Narrative

Elias develops feelings for his new neighbor Alexander. He soon realizes that he is falling in love for the first time. First of all, I have to commend the incredible acting performance of Lou Goossens (Elias) and Marius Desaeger (Alexander). They certainly had the ability to break my heart while watching. Thankfully, they spared me. Tears were shed nonetheless. Another aspect that I appreciated was the length of the film. It struck the perfect balance – not too long to drag on, but long enough to allow for rich character development and a satisfying conclusion. The pacing felt natural, with each scene contributing something meaningful to the overall (love) story. The beautifully crafted cinematography definitely added a big plus to this 10/10 film. I am writing this just after seeing it for the first time, but it will definitely not be the last time I watch this masterpiece by Anthony Schatteman. Young Hearts now has a very special place in my heart.
