Narrative

Charles, a pensioner, gets a new lease of life when he answers an ad for a private detective and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home.

He says: “The documentary ‘Agent Mole’ is powerful because it makes people feel something amazingly similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling very simply as ‘I need to call my mum.’ In our show, we tried to do the same thing with the tone: basically, does our show contribute to this feeling, making us want to call our moms?

It has the right combination of warmth, funny, sad, deep with a story line that keeps you in suspense

I’m not a fan of binge-watching TV shows, but we blew the entire season to shreds on the first night.

Ted Danson is great, of course, but Stephanie Beatrice (Diaz in 1999) is amazing and her character is someone you want to spend all your time with

It’s set in San Francisco, which of course helps me with the rating, but first of all, even though it’s very sad at times, it’s a comedy, and it gives you hope for the future because we’re all getting a little older.

A solid eight out of ten for me, one for all ages, and who knows, hopefully another season
