Narrative
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with presiding over one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, the selection of a new Pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundations of the Catholic Church. The actions that Cardinal Lawrence and the other cardinals take during the conclave process in the film are true and accurate to the Catholic faith and centuries of tradition. Indeed, the Vatican officially declares that the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant. The papal apartment is actually sealed with a crimson ribbon and sealed with the papal wax seal.

I just got back from the theater after seeing "Conclave" a movie that I was excited about and I really liked it. I was so blown away by the beautiful cinematography, fantastic performances, great score and quality costume and production design of most of the film that I was convinced this film had to be a 10/10.
What will you leave the audience with?
I think the end of the movie is the most important part. What is your final message to them? But in this film it is so contrived, confusing and absurd that any final statement becomes unclear and I left the theater with a bad taste in my mouth. The ending is so unrealistic that it threatens to destroy every frame of what came before.
It is only done to make a statement about the church and shock the audience
Now, this doesn’t ruin the movie as a whole (not for me, anyway), but it does, unfortunately, ruin an otherwise excellent film.
