Nate Busco has spent 12 of his 17 years running from the past

Fed up with being moved from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats cornflakes, and uses track practice as an opportunity to shower.

Alone, he’s haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past

When night came, he couldn’t have been more different from the confident, cocky person he was in school.

Enter Stan Dean, a popular high school drama teacher who’s dealing with his own issues

He sees Nate’s latent talent and need for attention and guidance that no other teacher has seen and sets out to help.

But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and taken away in handcuffs

Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only gets Nate released on bail, but agrees to take Nate into his own home, despite the raised eyebrows he receives from his fellow teachers.

Stan is willing to go to any lengths to help a student in trouble
