Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the companies they represent.

In essence, they manage the land and secure leases so that they can drill for oil and gas. Like foremen at a construction site, they build roads, man camps, assemble excavators, and dig the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixers, problem solvers, and leaders.

Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the expectations that come with being a Yellowstone fan. So far, the main story is interesting and exciting, but not too far-fetched. There are a few subplots that carry through the episodes well, but sometimes one of them detracts from the overall quality of the show.

The actors portray their characters well

The visual production is notable; the direction and design of the environments are to be enjoyed. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of people working in the field on how realistic the field scenes are. Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and leads the series very well.

Overall a very good series, visually well executed and excellently acted
